Why do we do what we do?
Ever since I became involved with the game of golf several decades ago, I’ve been in love with it – not just the absolute excitement of the Ryder Cup or the Open or the Masters, but the whole ethos of golf; the fair play, the etiquette and the golfing community. I love the way golf encourages us to get out from behind our fast paced computer and algorithm controlled life to spend some quality time in the fresh air pitting our wits against green and fairway.
One of the things that I realised early on in coming to love golf was that to have a thriving game, we have to do what we can to support golf and the growth of the game here in the UK. We do that by providing opportunities for Golf Professionals to run coaching breaks in the winter (when the weather at home is, to say the least, unreliable!) and overseas competitions for Clubs and indeed PGA counties to enjoy for the last 30 years.
In a world where most people are focussing on big data, social media channels and mass marketing, you probably won’t see us all over the Facebook or the golf magazines because we choose to focus on people, on spending time to find out what the best possible solution might be for our customers.
On our website we tend not to have pages and pages of set offers, because for us, each customer is different and special. I consider it a great honour to have clients who have been travelling with me now for more than 25 years, many have become good friends.
I have been really lucky over my time in golf to work with a lot of fantastic people, and today I have a team in Claire, Mark, Steve, Gabby and Freya of whom I am incredibly proud. Proud because of the way they have helped us continue to give our very best to customers even when we were faced with massive currency losses after the Brexit vote, again with the collapse of a number of airlines including Monarch and of course, throughout the Covid 19 pandemic.
It has been wonderful to come out the other side of Covid. Goodness me there were times I thought it was near on impossible, however with a lot of grit, determination and a very good plan we made it and I must admit are better for the experience (yes I can say that now!!)
This team have put an incredible shift in over the last few years and I couldn’t be prouder of them.
